McDowell Litter Clean Up

Twice each year, Friends of the Tug Fork River, in partnership with Reconnecting McDowell, the southern WV chapter of Trout Unlimited, the McDowell County Solid Waste Authority, and the WV Department of Highways, heads up a countywide litter cleanup in McDowell County, West Virginia. As of fall 2024, the effort has removed more than 1,000 large bags of litter and 300 tons of larger items from area highways and tributaries of the Tug Fork.
